Explore leadership and change with fascinating leaders in an intimate setting

Can you remember the last conference you attended?

Did you actually get the chance to talk to the speakers, or did you just listen?

master_8.jpg

Common Purpose Masterclasses are one-day workshops that are all about conversation. We call them Masterclasses because they are all about exploring the expertise, experience and skills you need to be an effective leader...but you won't watch PowerPoint presentations or read through lists of competencies. Instead, listen to the insightful, inspiring and often surprising leadership stories of our speakers and even share your own.

We offer the fascinating, unusual and high-level speakers that you would expect

But unlike a conference we give you the chance to engage in intimate conversations with them in small groups.

"Would love to be able to bottle the enthusiasm and presence of the speakers!"

"Utterly excellent. My job is to inspire others; I can do that better and better having been inspired by so many others today, and despite everything my hope for a better future persists. Thank you."

Masterclases are facilitated by passionate Common Purpose staff

Their use of the experiential techniques developed through our courses creates an atmosphere that fosters collaboration, connection and inspiration as well as the traditional exchange of knowledge. Attend a Common Purpose Masterclass, and you may find yourself contributing as much as our speakers!

"I liked the different approaches to workshops. I experienced an engaging 'After Dinner' speech, a 'Pub Conversation' and a seminar with props!"

"A great range of thought provoking topics in a space that provokes big thinking!"

"The timing of this event couldn't have come at a better time as my organisation has just announced radical reorganisation proposals which have a significant impact on me and my colleagues. This event reminds me that I have a lot to offer and cannot just sit on the sidelines."

"This has been fantastic and inspiring day - it has both refreshed my desire to consider my own leadership roles and encourage me to see and how so many other who share my values and energy!"

Real issues, real places, real people

How can you work together in a formal or informal partnership? Are you seeking to develop your collaborative leadership skills?

Collabs (Collaboration Laboratories) are one- or two-day workshops that provide participants with a tailored case study based on a problem that closely reflects reality and calls for collaboration across multiple boundaries.

Customised to suit the needs of the partnership or organisation, leaders who are all involved - directly or indirectly - in the problem are challenged to build partnerships, distracted with unseen issues and pushed to give feedback, whilst real local advisors help to check against reality.

Collabs:

  • are run over one or two days
  • are for up to 100 participants
  • can be run anywhere

On application we can provide a quote for your Collab. The cost of a Collab averages £10K, dependent upon the number of participants and duration of the course.

For more information or to book a Collab, email    collab@commonpurpose.org.

Collab participants:

  • deepen their understanding of place and the silos within it
  • discover how other organisations relate to theirs - and vice versa
  • find there are different ways to do things and that people in other sectors aren't all bad
  • figure out how they themselves have to change to work with others
  • build new relationships with stakeholders they had never previously considered.

Common Purpose Collabs - Leaders give their thoughts on the benefits of collaborative leadership

"Enjoyed the role playing - was refreshing to think about moving forward with a company without being in the current financial climate."
Jane Bent, School Sports Development Manager, Wigan Leisure & Culture Trust

"Thoroughly enjoyable and useful experience. Good opportunity to take time out from the current financial situations and reflect how effective collaboration can address some of the issues."
Sue Wilkinson, Service Director - Wigan Schools for the Future

Immerse yourself in the economic, political and social context
of another location

Challenge your approach to leadership

Go beyond the confines of your own location, and spend a day immersed in the economic, political and social context of another location (at home or overseas), learning lessons and comparing challenges with leaders from across the world.

quest_1.jpg

Quests are a fantastic opportunity to gain a unique insight into the culture of another location!

"I have had my eyes opened to different ways of operating in the partnership area. The positivity I have seen from all the speakers and the visits I went on will impact on the way I approach issues in the future. The importance of having shared values has also been particularly strong as a theme for me all day, and I will actively think about how I can engender and embed these in partnerships I am involved in."

"This has been without doubt the most interesting, thought provoking and enjoyable part of the course so far. I would thoroughly recommend organising more of these types of events that I have found genuinely inspiring."

How do you inspire leadership across generations?

Start with a conversation at Generation Infinity...

A one-day event for role models and their mentees*.

Attendees, accompanied by a young person aged 14 to 21, explore with inspiring speakers the challenges, opportunities and rewards of being a decisive, courageous and passionate leader.

pre_7.jpgOnly at Common Purpose's Generation Infinity event can you ask these inspiring individuals what makes leaders take the courageous decisions that have changed lives? What gives them the energy to keep going? How do they inspire people to make change happen, and how can young people be inspired to do the same?

To find out where and when the next Generation Infinity will be taking place, please visit our calendar of workshops and events.

*Please note, you can be your mentee's parent, guardian, foster parent, teacher, coach, community group leader, friend, career guidance counselor, or a religious or spiritual leader. We ask that everyone read the Generation Infinity Child Protection Statement (Common Purpose UK website).
