Dr.
Konstantin Mettenheimer, Partner and former Global Chair of
international law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, has been
elected as Chair of the German Board of not-for-profit leadership
development organisation Common Purpose.
Dr. Mettenheimer, a certified tax adviser and lawyer and an MBA
from Wharton, aims to build on the dynamic growth of Common Purpose
in Germany while developing strong relations with Common Purpose
alumni.
"When my international mandate came to an end, I decided
that beyond my professional work as Partner of the firm I wanted to
my devote time to meaningful work in the not-for-profit sector. The
fantastic growth of the past seven years shows how well the Common
Purpose concept has been taken up by leaders from the most diverse
parts of German society and I am excited to continue to develop
Common Purpose with the team here" said Dr. Mettenheimer.
"We are delighted that Dr. Mettenheimer has agreed to take
on this leadership role. With his support, we are very much looking
forward to the next phase of development for Common Purpose in
Germany", says Bernadette
Conraths, who has recently joined the Management Team of Common Purpose
Germany.
Gunther Ruppel, Member of the Management Board of Ernst &
Young Germany and Dr. Hartwig Graf Westerholt, a partner at law
firm Schiedermair & Partner, were also confirmed as members of
the Board.
Two members of the Board who have played key roles in the
development of Common Purpose Germany since 2003 will be stepping
down - Dr. Christoph Brand, Managing Director of Goldman Sachs,
Germany and Dr. Hans Reckers, Director General of the Association
of Public Banks and former Member of the Board of the Bundesbank.
Both have served as Chair of Common Purpose Germany but feel that
they can no longer commit to the time the role requires. "I
would like to thank both Christoph and Hans for their role in
helping to establish Common Purpose Germany - their input and
energy have been invaluable" said Julia Middleton,
Chief Executive of Common Purpose.
