"Hong Kong is - and will continue to - experience a time of
significant transition, and for that, there is a need for a new
approach to leadership that fosters collaboration and expands the
potential for the private, public and not-for-profit sector to work
together for the benefit of the community," said Ronald Arculli,
the founding Chairman of Common Purpose in Hong Kong. "With the
launch of Common Purpose in Hong Kong today, we hope to contribute
to the development of Hong Kong's future leaders."
Common Purpose brings an innovative approach to leadership
development to Hong Kong, with courses that bring together
individuals at all stages of their career from across the private,
public and not-for-profit sectors.
"Common Purpose's launch in Hong Kong could not come at a better
time, as the relationship between East and West leadership
becomes ever more important and the city of Hong Kong will play a
key role in defining this," said Julia Middleton, Chief Executive
of Common Purpose. "Our courses have shown time and time again that
there are ways for leaders across the private, public and
not-for-profit sectors to work effectively together - even in
places where tradition has defied this being a possibility."
The first Common Purpose course to launch in Hong Kong will be
Meridian, which is specifically designed for senior level
leaders with established careers looking to enhance how they work
locally, nationally and internationally. The second course to
launch will be
Frontrunner - for high potential young leaders embarking on the
early stages of their career.
"Common Purpose is excited to offer our courses in Hong Kong as
the city continues to define its international identity and plays a
crucial role as a gateway city to China," said Adirupa Sengupta,
International Director of Common Purpose. "We are launching in Hong
Kong with the aim to help leaders in all sectors work together to
tackle challenges, grasp opportunities, and effectively manage
complex change and relationships with stakeholders who have varying
perspectives."
Since its establishment in the UK in 1989, Common Purpose has
replicated its cross-sector and experience-based leadership courses
in Germany, France, India, Ireland, South Africa, Ghana, The
Netherlands, Turkey, Sweden, and now the People's Republic of
China. The charity employs 150 people worldwide and recently
celebrated its 30,000th graduate completing a Common Purpose
course.
