How an an investment professional at a major South African financial institution fixed his professional "blind spots" through Common Purpose, helping him with his investment decisions

"Before Common Purpose, I lacked a meaningful appreciation of many of the issues that we face as a society and I genuinely believe that my professional approach suffered from a few 'blind spots' as a result.

"Common Purpose exposed me constructively to aspects of society that I was never aware of before and new ways of thinking in general. As a result, I have gained an 'extra dimension' professionally that most of my peers lack and, given the unique and diverse society in which we work and live, my career has benefited immensely from it. I also find that I am able to make more broadly considered and contextually richer investment decisions.

"I find myself more aware of society in general and wanting to make a personal and professional contribution to it (not just live in it and earn an income from it). I have started taking an interest in and have been able to influence my organization's corporate social investment policies and programs for the better, which is extremely rewarding on a personal level.

I highly recommend Common Purpose as a must-do for leaders in all spheres but very specifically for private sector leaders and corporate professionals as they potentially have the most to gain from a fresh new perspective and are generally very well positioned to make a positive impact with what they learn at Common Purpose.

"For corporates themselves, I would highly recommend Common Purpose for their key staff as it has the potential to contribute substantially to staff balance and well-being as well as to improve their ability to deal with diversity in the workplace."
