Mr. Bodnar is co-founder and Executive Vice President of
Organica Water, one of the world's most innovative wastewater
treatment technology companies. Under his leadership, Organica
pioneered a new generation of biological treatment facilities in
which engineered ecosystems are used in an odorless botanical
garden setting to treat wastewater. Organica plants are the first
manifestations of the new urban water paradigm where architecture
is fused with ecosystem engeneering to provide a truly sustainable
urban water solution. Adoption of the technology intially started
in Europe with plants built in France, Poland, Hungary and recently
a number of new plants have been completed in China. For the
wastewater treatment industry, and society as a whole, Organica
represents a truly disruptive "living" technology with significant
socio-economic impact potential in the next 20-30 years. Organica
has been named company of the year by the Hungarian Venture Capital
and Private Equity Association as well as the Hungarian Association
of Environmental Service Providers. Mr. Bodnar and his partner sold
the design and operation part of the business to Veolia in 2006 and
have since concentrated on pushing the limits of this
transformative technology further and on a global scale.
Prior to co-founding Organica, Mr. Bodnar built two successful
businesses in the United States. He was
Managing Partner of Denker & Bodnar Architects,
an architectural design and construction firm focused
on residential, commercial and institutional projects up
to $45 million in scale. Under his
leadership the firm became a market leader
in niche development categories in the New York
metropolitan area, and received architectural awards
in both New York and Hungary. Previously, Mr.
Bodnar co-founded and managed a safety
technology startup with the brand name OLO, which was
acquired by a Fortune 500 company five years after its
founding.
Mr. Bodnar received his Master's in Architecture from the
Technical University of Budapest and holds dual U.S. and
Hungarian citizenship.
